How We Play
Children are as unique as adults are and each child has their specific interests, preferences, and aesthetics. Children are drawn to certain types of play; some love adventure, some love invention and some love role play. We aim to create opportunities for children to explore different types to see what interests them and how it evolves.
In each camp, different types of play are incorporated into our design at varying degrees. “How we play” is part of our on-going research and is the essence in curriculum and process design that makes us so unique! Have a look at the different types of play here at Taitonmai.
An exciting and physical experience to overcome fears and doubts that creates opportunities to be brave. Adventure play is a combination of active exercise, logical thinking and risk-taking. We’ll be jumping, climbing and balancing – using bodily kinesthetic skills to play. This type of play supports the development of self-regulation, independence and resourcefulness.
Open-ended crafting where imagination takes a physical form. Creation is physical manipulation of materials and objects in socio-dramatic or role-playing context. Building and making while setting their own goals. Their creations are manifestations and representations of their endless imagination.
Developing one’s own understanding of how things are and how things react: through mixing and remixing, testing, and retesting, trying and retrying.
Uncover the magical secrets of the natural and imagined world through curious minds. Observing and noticing the environment around you whether new or old and being brave by stepping outside of your comfort zone.
